Training Opportunity!
Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS’s) Strategic Interventions is pleased to offer this 2-day workshop on Nov 13 & 14 for professionals in mental health, front-line workers, counselling, community outreach, and anyone involved in providing group support to survivors of domestic and/or sexualized violence
This workshop provides a comprehensive exploration of the principles and practices of group work with survivors of domestic and/or sexualized violence. Through interactive presentations, case studies, and collaborative group activities, participants will learn how to create safe, supportive, and empowering group environments that help alleviate isolation among survivors. The session will focus on understanding the unique dynamics and needs of group members, addressing trauma, and fostering resilience and healing. Participants will gain practical skills for facilitating groups, managing group dynamics, and supporting the complex emotional and psychological recovery of survivors.
The workshop highlights trauma-informed, violence-informed, and decolonial approaches to group work, ensuring interventions are anti-oppressive and suitable for survivors of intimate partner violence, domestic violence, and sexual violence. By the end, attendees will gain the knowledge and tools needed to support survivors’ healing and recovery in group settings.
