Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS’s) Strategic Interventions is pleased to offer this workshop for mental health professionals, counsellors, therapists, social workers, and anyone else interested in learning about trauma and violence-informed therapy practices. 

The Trauma and Gender-Based-Violence Informed Narrative Therapy Approach workshops are designed to equip participants with practical tools and techniques for working with trauma survivors in a sensitive, compassionate, and effective manner.

Level 2: Trauma & Gender-Based-Violence Informed Therapy Approach Intermediate 

Level 3: Trauma & Gender-Based-Violence Informed Therapy Approach Advance 

Learning Outcomes:  

• Principles of Narrative Therapy: Understand the core principles of narrative therapy and its application to trauma and gender-based violence.
• Skills for Diverse Backgrounds: Develop skills to support trauma survivors from diverse backgrounds.
• Narrative Therapy Interviews: Learn to conduct narrative therapy interviews and work with clients who have experienced multiple traumas.
• Impact of Trauma: Gain insights into the long-term effects of childhood trauma, gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault.
• Trauma-Informed Approach: Apply a trauma and gender-based violence-informed narrative therapy approach inspired by social justice and feminist perspectives.
• Support Across Ages and Backgrounds: Learn to interview and support individuals of all ages and backgrounds who have experienced trauma and gender-based violence, including childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault.
