Understanding and Responding to Stalking in the Context of Intimate Partner Violence (Sept 11)
Stalking is a serious and often overlooked form of gender-based violence—and a key predictor of femicide. This full-day hybrid workshop, led by Angela Marie MacDougall of BWSS, equips frontline workers and advocates with tools for risk assessment, documentation, and survivor-led safety planning.
Inner Child: Learn, Heal, and Apply (May 2)
Through guided exercises and reflective discussions, participants will identify and address unconscious survival strategies that persist into adulthood. By examining how these patterns shape present-day reactions and relationships, attendees will gain practical tools to support their own healing and the healing of those they work with.
Certification Program: Intimate Partner and Domestic Violence Advocacy Training (May 6 – July 8)
This training equips participants with the tools and knowledge needed to provide trauma- and violence-informed, culturally responsive advocacy. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the complexities of gender-based violence with an emphasis on domestic and intimate partner violence, including risk assessment, safety planning, and victim-survivor-centred interventions.

Crafting Safety Plans for Victims and Survivors of Violence (May 12)
Safety planning is a critical component of supporting survivors of violence, ensuring they have strategies to reduce risk and enhance their well-being. This workshop explores a broad range of safety issues, including protection orders, navigating risk without legal protections, workplace safety, safety at home and community, safety planning with children, and addressing the safety of companion animals.

This foundational workshop introduces the principles of narrative therapy in the context of trauma and gender-based violence. Participants will explore key concepts, develop trauma-informed communication skills, and learn how to support survivors from diverse backgrounds.
Politicizing Your Practice (May 29)
This training invites participants to critically examine the political and structural conditions shaping both gender-based violence and the systems survivors are forced to navigate. We look beyond individual pathology to explore how trauma is socially produced and sustained, and how our responses—both as individuals and institutions—can either reinforce or resist harm.
Deconstructing PTSD: A Trauma and Violence Informed Framework for Frontline Workers (June 16)
“Deconstructing PTSD” moves beyond clinical pathologizing to explore the lived experiences of trauma, particularly for those navigating gender-based violence, colonization, systemic racism, and poverty. Level 2: Intermediate Trauma & Gender-Based Violence-Informed Narrative Therapy (June 27)
Building on Level 1, this session deepens participants’ understanding of narrative therapy techniques and their application in working with clients who have experienced multiple traumas, including childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault. Practical exercises will focus on trauma-informed interviewing, storytelling as a healing tool, and strategies for resilience-building.
