Understanding and Responding to Stalking in the Context of Intimate Partner Violence (Sept 11)
Stalking is a serious and often overlooked form of gender-based violence—and a key predictor of femicide. This full-day hybrid workshop, led by Angela Marie MacDougall of BWSS, equips frontline workers and advocates with tools for risk assessment, documentation, and survivor-led safety planning.
Certification Program: Intimate Partner and Domestic Violence Advocacy Training (May 6 – July 8)
This training equips participants with the tools and knowledge needed to provide trauma- and violence-informed, culturally responsive advocacy. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the complexities of gender-based violence with an emphasis on domestic and intimate partner violence, including risk assessment, safety planning, and victim-survivor-centred interventions.
Level 1: Introduction to Trauma & Gender-Based Violence-Informed Narrative Therapy TBA
This foundational workshop introduces the principles of narrative therapy in the context of trauma and gender-based violence. Participants will explore key concepts, develop trauma-informed communication skills, and learn how to support survivors from diverse backgrounds.
Level 2: Intermediate Trauma & Gender-Based Violence-Informed Narrative Therapy TBA
Building on Level 1, this session deepens participants’ understanding of narrative therapy techniques and their application in working with clients who have experienced multiple traumas, including childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault. Practical exercises will focus on trauma-informed interviewing, storytelling as a healing tool, and strategies for resilience-building.
Level 3: Advanced Trauma & Gender-Based Violence-Informed Narrative Therapy TBA
This advanced workshop is designed for practitioners seeking to refine their expertise in narrative therapy with trauma survivors. Participants will engage in complex case studies, explore the intersections of trauma, oppression, and systemic barriers, and apply advanced therapeutic techniques to support long-term healing and empowerment.
