Strategic Interventions presents a specialized training series for mental health professionals, counsellors, therapists, social workers, and frontline service providers. These workshops equip participants with practical tools to support trauma survivors using a trauma- and gender-based violence-informed narrative therapy approach. Rooted in social justice and feminist perspectives, the training fosters a compassionate, effective, and culturally responsive practice.

This advanced workshop is designed for practitioners seeking to refine their expertise in narrative therapy with trauma survivors. Participants will engage in complex case studies, explore the intersections of trauma, oppression, and systemic barriers, and apply advanced therapeutic techniques to support long-term healing and empowerment.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Core Principles of Narrative Therapy: Understand how narrative therapy applies to trauma and gender-based violence.
  • Culturally Responsive Practice: Develop skills to support survivors from diverse backgrounds with an intersectional approach.
  • Trauma-Informed Interviewing: Learn to conduct narrative therapy interviews tailored for individuals who have experienced multiple forms of trauma.
  • Understanding the Impact of Trauma: Gain insight into the lasting effects of gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and childhood trauma.
  • Applying a Social Justice Lens: Integrate trauma- and gender-based violence-informed narrative therapy with feminist and anti-oppressive frameworks.
  • Supporting Survivors Across the Lifespan: Learn best practices for working with clients of all ages who have experienced gender-based violence and complex trauma.
