Stalking is one of the most dangerous and underrecognized forms of gender-based violence—and one of the strongest predictors of intimate partner homicide (aka femicide). This interactive, full-day virtual workshop is designed for frontline workers, advocates, counsellors, legal professionals, and system actors who support survivors of intimate partner violence and criminal harassment.

Join Angela Marie MacDougall of Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS) for a deep dive into the diverse and escalating tactics used by stalkers, with a focus on survivor-led risk assessment, documentation strategies, and safety planning that works. Grounded in trauma- and violence-informed practice and intersectional analysis, this training draws on BWSS’s frontline expertise and the Stalking
Assessment and Management framework.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify stalking behaviours and escalation patterns—including digital and systemic abuse
  • Apply assessment tools in combination with safety planning frameworks
  • Support survivors with documentation and legal strategy
  • Assess risk in real-time, with cultural, legal, and geographic context in mind
  • Build interagency responses that prioritize survivor safety and dignity

Who should attend:
This training series is ideal for frontline workers, shelter and crisis line staff, justice system actors, mental health professionals, legal
advocates, and anyone supporting survivors of intimate partner or gender-based violence.
